The Day of the Dead at IHG Ignite 2023: An experience to transcend into another world.

Within the framework of the IHG Ignite 2023 convention, during the second to last day dedicated to the top Premier Customers of Intercontinental Hotels Group worldwide; DMS Mexico in conjunction with the convention's organizing team, prepared a Day of the Dead themed night worthy of making guests feel the beauty and true meaning of this famous Mexican celebration to the bones, this powered by a super production that would make them feel authentically in a transcendental level.

Inspired by the street vibe of the trendiest venue in Mexico City at the moment, the Prim Public Project was transformed through an intense set up that took about 15 hours and more than 250 people from teams of more than 8 suppliers with one single mission: To provide an authentic, otherworldly experience for more than 400 international guests of the highest level.

"15 hours and more than 250 people from teams of more than 8 suppliers with one single mission: To provide an authentic, otherworldly experience for more than 400 international guests of the highest level".

As every Mexican knows, the celebration of the Day of the Dead is not exactly something that has a strict and established way of being celebrated; since, throughout the country there are similarities with this tradition such as the presence of Cempasúchil flowers, papel picado, ofrendas, people characterized as characters such as "la catrina" and pan de muerto. The reality is that, in Mexico, regardless of where we are, everyone has their own special way of living the Day of the Dead to feel close to their deceased ones, and this is exactly a crucial aspect that we wanted the guests to feel; so the event offered free will on how to live this experience to the guests within 2 adjoining venues.

"In Mexico, regardless of where we are, everyone has their own special way of living the Day of the Dead to feel close to their deceased one".

On one side, in Prim 30, thanks to its French finishes and the charm present in its porfirian patio, "the world of the living" was staged; perfect for those calmer participants, where guests enjoyed a beautiful thematic and vividly gloomy atmosphere, which served as a perfect prelude to enjoy the hors d'oeuvres and drinks provided by the Presidente Intercontinental team on site while they engaged in a good chat and quietly enjoyed the dance and live music numbers that were presented there during the night.

On the other hand, Prim 32, to which guests had access through a central floral arch that interconnected "the world of the living" with "the world of the dead", was decorated as the area of what Day of the Dead really is: an authentic celebration and party. In this place there were offerings dedicated to the deceased of the participants, live shows of plastic artists and dancers, monumental handicraft decorations and... lots & LOTS of color!
And it was in this way that while the guests were passing through the 2 adjoining venues that staged this event, as the night went by, the experience of the beautiful and curious contrasts that the Day of the Dead in Mexico can have not only reached their bones, but penetrated to the depths of their souls. In fact, more than one of them could not help but rejoice at the level of amazement they had when they were living an experience so shocking and difficult to describe in a good way, they would certainly have a lot to tell back home.

The impact of this event was such that, according to the convention's organizing team, more than 60 people notified that same night that they wanted to extend their stay since "no way would they miss what had been prepared for the following day". This only made the DMS team proud, as they still had an event pending at the Kaluz Museum and San Hipolito; and they were definitely not going to allow themselves to disappoint all those people.
