 DMS Mexico Chronicles

DMS Mexico at AWS SUMMIT 2023: New talent continues to add to this year's world-class success.

In an event that brought together around 5,800 attendees from various companies, the World Trade Center Mexico City hosted a series of keynotes, sessions and interactive meetings provided by AWS cloud experts. This extraordinary event took place on August 29th and 30th and DMS Mexico, in charge of covering their staffing needs, could not but exceed expectations, putting their hands to work to make the event a success.

In charge of coordinating the staffing services for this great event, Samantha Sarmiento, with more than 10 years of experience in the industry and in personnel management, dedicated herself to the search for an infallible team with the willingness to wake up before dawn to attend to thousands of attendees at the AWS Summit 2023 with the best attitude and service.

And so, in charge of more than 250 people between the two days of the convention and more than a couple of months of planning, Samantha served as the mastermind in charge of moving the pieces that would cover the demand of this important event of extraordinary proportions; for which she also had the support of who she describes as the best director of operations in the country, Guillermo Hernandez.

On the other hand, within the operational team, Adrian Miralrio, the young promise of DMS Mexico was the ideal leader selected by Samantha, Guillermo and the AWS team for the registration area where about 5,800 people, including attendees, employees and staff of the event, were directed to the various presentations and the main exhibition floor that took place in the enclosure.

The work of the registration and help desk team of around 40 people was of utmost importance, as each badge issued contained an electronic chip with which AWS controlled access to each session, and each of these people also served as the first line of welcome in the guests' experience when they arrived at the convention.

For his part, Adrian commented: "It is always a challenge to achieve the high quality standards of a convention such as the AWS Summit, however, it is incredible how the good attitude and pride of belonging to the success of a convention of this caliber can drive us to even give our all, so much so that we have even been recognized as one of the best teams for AWS in Latin America; and what better than to share that satisfaction with more than 250 people who understand perfectly what I mean and did a great job".

""It was an extraordinary and intense couple of days! Once again I noticed the enormous support and commitment from all the staff in general. Once again we found an echo in the students, who attended our call, in a very generous volume and who in their great majority showed their interest in learning by showing their willingness and dedication".

With more than 40 years of experience and providing his unconditional support and immense wisdom to the team, Guillermo Hernandez serves in each group as general operations coordinator starting the engines. With agenda in hand, he guided from the front line the efforts of the entire staff, among which were students who participated in the last edition, while for others this was their first approach to the events industry; hand in hand with AWS, Guillermo provided training to the staff that would be present during sessions and presentations with the objective of making this a wonderful edition of the experience that AWS Summit represents.

With joy, Guillermo shared: "It was an extraordinary and intense couple of days! Once again I noticed the enormous support and commitment from all the staff in general. Once again we found an echo in the students, who attended our call, in a very generous volume and who in their great majority showed their interest in learning by showing their willingness and dedication. As icing on the cake, I had the pleasant experience of talking with several kids, who, before the display of simultaneous events, showed their great interest in integrating into the service of tourism.
For a perfect closing, the thanks of our general coordinator of AWS was very flattering, not to mention that all the foreign coordinators of AWS, expressed their appreciation and that will always be a very, but a very pleasant reward for the effort!

With around 5,800 attendees it was a fact that language barriers would be present, however this was not an obstacle, as we had the support of Gustavo White who is part of the DMS team. Part of Gustavo's responsibilities was to be the liaison between the event organization and suppliers, who were in charge of setting up the necessary furniture for the Expo area and providing the A&B service; later during the day of the event and with a great service attitude, he went to the Help Desk to provide support to those who had difficulties and required bilingual personnel.

Gustavo shares his pleasant experience: "For 4 days I provided simultaneous translation services to the event organizers. These services ranged from liaison with the catering providers at the WTC, contact with the operators of the Santa Fe Exhibition Center during their visit to this Venue, contact with the sponsors in the Exhibition area to attend to specific situations with them and collaborate in the Help Desk area on the day of the event to facilitate communication between the organizers' (English-speaking) managers and the attendees who had had problems of various kinds when registering for the event. The organizers were very grateful for the support throughout those 4 days."

At the end of the event all the attendees seemed to have enjoyed all the surprises that AWS had prepared for this edition, and many of them shared their comments with the staff team for such a warm service. In addition to this, when the DMS team was about to leave the facilities satisfied with the performance and effort shown, the AWS organizing group addressed them to show their gratitude, assuring them that they had had an incredible disposition and that, without a doubt, they would keep them in mind again in their next event.
