DMS Mexico Chronicles No9 - October 2022

Successful participation in the Amazon Web Services - AWS Summit 2022 in Mexico City - DMS Mexico promoting the new generations

With more than 3,000 attendees at the Santa Fe Center, the Event held by a AWS on September 21 and 22 was undoubtedly an extremely demanding challenge. DMS Mexico covered the Staffing of this event that presented two premises: to comply with the impeccability and standards of our company and on the other hand to comply with the international statutes required by AWS for an event that has references from previous editions at a global level.

In this Chronicle, the members of DMS Mexico who led each area of the event tell us about their experience.

"This event that presented two premises: to comply with the impeccability and standards of our company and on the other hand to comply with the international statutes required by the client for an event that has references from previous editions at a global level".

Adrián Miralrio - Gerente de MICE Meetings & Events - Líder de Registro del Evento

"Having participated as the leader of the registration area during the AWS Summit 2022 was undoubtedly a very demanding challenge.

Curiously, on this occasion the demand was not reduced to my person, because, as it happened in other areas covered by my teammates, the responsibility was being shared by more than 40 people who participated in the registration area.

However, this story certainly has a happy ending, since thanks to the great sense of teamwork, commitment, responsibility, and energy demonstrated by the registration area, we received nothing but compliments from both the participants and the organizers. Being the latter who finally recognized us as "the best staff they have ever had in any of their editions of AWS Summit globally".

"At the end of the event the satisfactions multiplied for each effort made, allowing us to be witnesses to see new friendships emerge, relationships of colleagues, congratulations for the work done and even have the honor of delivering the first salary of their life to students."

Norma Mendez - Academic Coordinator - Help Desk Leader

"The experience in Help Desk was the direct contact with the participants, within this team we provide them with a quick and effective solution to the difficulties they may have, generating a good customer service experience.

For our part, the experience of having direct contact with it, meeting them and welcoming them was very pleasant, that they knew that if they needed something they could come with us, give them that security of a supported team".

Samantha Sarmiento - Specialty Tours Manager - Coordination Leader

"The first challenge was the recruitment of staff; we needed to gather 141 people willing to get up at 3 am for 3 days and have the best attitude to receive and attend to each and every one of the attendees. Schools and technology were key to achieving this, being the Higher School of Tourism and the Intercontinental University who through google forms promoted the registration of their students to participate in the event of such an internationally recognized company.

The first day was a day of training, a day during which it culminated with the assignment of areas and functions of each member, and tours were made for the recognition of the different areas solving doubts of the staff that the attendees could have in the same way. Once the staff was scheduled, the effective days of the event were relatively easier to operate where, except for small eventualities, they were executed successfully.

At the end of the event the satisfactions multiplied for each effort made, allowing us to be witnesses to see new friendships emerge, relationships of colleagues, congratulations for the work done and even have the honor of delivering the first salary of their life to students who are embarking on the path in this industry that without a doubt, after difficult times of uncertainty, it is stronger than ever."

"For our part, the experience of having direct contact with it, meeting them and welcoming them was very pleasant, that they knew that if they needed something they could come with us, give them that security of a supported team".

Gaby Ruíz - Process Architect - Deep Racer Leader

"I participated as a staff in the Deep Racer stand (its application workshop and the Deep Racer Arcade, and I could describe it with two words: energy and competitiveness.

It felt an impressive energy from both the client team that prepared both the arcade and the races, they were super committed to people having an amazing experience, as well as the public, the competitive spirit was at its peak.

With people coming back and participating again to improve their times and check the scores, as on the track where people with all kinds of experience participated, from people who had never heard of the Deep racer to very experienced people who carried their own programming models and strollers armed by themselves, the level of competition was such that we were receiving participants until the last minute,  who made adjustments to their programs and came back to compete again and lower their time."

Gustavo White - Marketing Director - Support Leader

"The task I led with my team was to be the link between the organizer and any need that arose in the different areas of the Event. Faced with each requirement in each area, the team responded quickly and efficiently. One activity that proved key was to coordinate the activities of the 5 session areas in the Plenary Hall that featured a flow of attendees of about 3,000 people. It was very nice to be able to work with these young people and see their ability to react, their desire to learn and their attitude of service.

In this sense, the organizers of the event never stopped pointing out to me the willingness and enthusiasm of our Team."

"I had the opportunity to observe each one of them at work, very closely. Performing an extraordinary job, causing an excellent qualification and praise from our client-contact."

Guillermo Hernández - Director of Operations - General Coordinator

"Once again, I prove that having a group of novice staff, is our best option to mold and instruct in the most correct and convenient way to adhere to this beautiful profession of group and convention tourism.

If they study or have studied a career related to tourism and without having extensive experience working in the field, with the basic instructions of their work to develop, they are able to surprise us.

It was a pleasant surprise to collaborate with a group of young "turisteros", many of them still at the stage of finishing their careers, but eager to excel in the tourism business. Above all, because most of the area leaders are already my co-workers and they demonstrated why they are dedicating themselves to this work and why they decided to study tourism.

I am sure they will excel in the field, and I am pleased to have all the energy they transmit to the whole DMS Mexico team, not only in the office, but also in the projects we have had the opportunity to collaborate.

I had the opportunity to observe each one of them at work, very closely. Performing an extraordinary job, causing an excellent qualification and praise from our client-contact, who was sharing workspace with all our numerous staff and working closely with our young area leaders.

Today I feel extremely motivated, knowing that I can hand over the baton to any of them, knowing that they will always make an extraordinary representation of the company in any event."

And finally our client's comment about his experience with the DMS Mexico Staff:

I am so appreciative of your team and all of the support you offered both before and while onsite. Your team took every learning experience in stride and helped create a successful event! So proud of your team and everything we accomplished last week! Thank you again!

I hope to work with you all again in the future! “
