DMS Mexico Chronicles No 10

Appreciating Mexico City's cultural gems

Design of experiences in the framework of the 29th National Convention of Public Brokers

From October 6th to 8th, 2022, within the framework of the 29th National Convention of Public Brokers that took place in Mexico City. The DMS Mexico team was invited to collaborate with the Organizing Committee of the aforementioned Convention to support them with the design of experiences for both the " Companions Program" and the "Main Program" of the event.

During the first two days, the "Companion Program" was developed, in which significant others who accompanied the main attendees who participated in the convention, or in other words "Companions", went out on their own to enjoy the cultural wonders that Mexico City has to offer.

On the first day, the companions began their adventure in the morning with a guided tour through the iconic Museum of Anthropology. The visit focused mainly on the history behind the iconic pieces exhibited in the Mexica Hall, such as the famous Sun Stone (better known as the "Aztec Calendar") or the replication of Montezuma's headdress.

"At the Museum of Modern Art, attendees delighted themselves by appreciating the exclusive and extensive collection of works of art belonging to the nation's cultural heritage."

"The Companions", went out on their own to enjoy the cultural wonders that Mexico City has to offer."

Afterwards, we headed to our next stop: The Museum of Modern Art.  This was by means of a relaxing walk through the bowels of the world-renowned Chapultepec Forest to the aforementioned precinct.

Once at the Museum of Modern Art, attendees delighted themselves by appreciating the exclusive and extensive collection of works of art belonging to the nation's cultural heritage, including paintings by renowned artists such as Diego Rivera, Frida Kahlo and Remedios Varo.

After this, we went to the famous restaurant "El Lago", where the companions were able to satiate their appetite with the delicacies prepared in the establishment, and that yes, in the company of one of the most iconic views of the area. Finally, we returned to the host hotel so that participants could continue with their other activities for the day.

Through a pleasant walk, the companions got to know the most relevant data, key points and history that surrounds our renowned Historic Center, and, in fact, they did not miss the opportunity to capture such a pleasant afternoon with a fun photograph to immortalize the day's tour.

And to close the tour in the area, the group participants had the opportunity to visit the National Museum of Art (MUNAL), where they were stunned by the beauty of the works belonging to national artistic figures such as José Guadalupe Posada, José Clemente Orozco, David Alfaro Siqueiros and some other international icons such as Rembrandt.

"In Toetihuacán the participants had the opportunity to get to know the great historical load and curiosities that the spots of this archaeological zone hold, this, among iconic pre-Hispanic monuments such as the Pyramids of the Sun and the Moon."

Afterwards, we headed to the elegant restaurant "La Sede", where the companions sentenced the hunger generated by the day's walk with the tasty flavors present in the special dishes and beverages typical of the site. Finally, we returned early to the host hotel to get enough rest for the pre-Hispanic adventure that awaited us the next day with the rest of the group.

During the morning of Saturday, October 8th, and as part of the Convention's Main Program, the participants boarded their buses to go to what is known as the first officially recognized archaeological site in Mexico: The Pre-Hispanic City of Teotihuacan.

Here, the participants of the 29th National Convention of Public Brokers had the opportunity to get to know the great historical load and curiosities that the spots of this archaeological zone hold, this, among iconic pre-Hispanic monuments such as the Pyramids of the Sun and the Moon.

After this incredible visit that took place almost until lunchtime, we returned to Mexico City, where we would close the day with a surprise that would leave our sense of taste and our stomachs cheering. We would close the day with a golden clasp, having our meal inside a legendary restaurant that dates back to the XIX century that, to this day, exalts the senses of its diners with its historical flavors present in each one of its dishes.

And so, that is how the Organizing Committee of the 29th National Convention of Public Brokers through DMS Mexico left its participants with no doubt that, according to their expectations, there would have been no better destination than Mexico City to host and complement the great experience that was desired for this edition of the great convention.
