Most established restaurants need to be registered with the Ministry of health and hence have high quality and hygene standards and will use purified water in both their beverages and their ice cubes.

Tap water in Mexico is not fit for human consumption, so please refrain from it. Bottled water is widely available.

During your stay in Mexico you might come across several street food vendors, we advise you not to eat at any of these places as some have hygene issues and most of them use more spices and fat than you might be used to.

A good rule of thumb is to eat a local yoghurt upon arrival, as it contains local intestinal flora that might help you digest and process the local spices better.
